Stephen Yarwood - Councillor, Adelaide City Council

Stephen was elected to Adelaide City Council in 2007 and was Deputy Lord Mayor in 2009 and is the Chairman of the South Australian State/Local Government Climate Change Steering Committee.
Stephen's professional goal is to be a leading futurist creating positive local and global futures; his personal interests include photographic art, cities, food, culture, technology, music and the arts.
He has a degree in Town Planning and Graduate Diplomas in Urban Planning and Environmental Studies. He is a Masters of Business Administration student at Adelaide University, has studied future cities in Japan's technology city Tsukuba and researched and/or lectured in Australia, the USA, Canada, New Zealand, India, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines on environment, development planning and future cities.
He has worked in State Government as a Strategic Planner, in the South Australian Parliament as an environment, resources and development researcher and was the Principal Planner at the City of Playford for 6 years. He is a strong advocate for modernising the city, walking/cycling & electric cars, increasing the city population, the arts and multiculturalism.
His major achievements on council have been to become the first paperless/digital elected member in Australia, facilitate substantial corporation carbon emission reductions and make Adelaide the 1st Fair Trade Capital City in Australia.
