The opening of
Adelaide's
EV Hub
For Charging Electric Vehicles

Wednesday September 27th was a momentous day for electric vehicle owners and drivers in the Adelaide CBD. One of the largest EV Hubs for charging exclusively EV's in Australia was launched by the South Australian Premier Jay Wetherill.
The new EV Hub located alongside the Central Bus Station in Franklin St, Adelaide and adjacent to "The Joinery" is an ideal location for drivers wishing to take advantage of free park and charge facilities whilst they go to the Central Markets or undertake local shopping.

There are 4 Tesla Superchargers - donated by Tesla (116kW charge capacity each unit), two Tritium CCS / CHAdeMO (50kW each) charge stations one of which was donated by Mitsubishi Motors Australia and two Level-2 (22kW)charge stations.

Mitsubishi donated one of the DC fast chargers. The other was funded by City of Adelaide, with a contribution from SA Power Networks (SA Power Networks also supplied the chargers, and constructed the site through their construction arm, Enerven). The AC charger is a dual-outlet 2 x 22kW 3-phase charger (noting, of course, that most vehicles using this today will only be charging at 3.6kW or 7.2kW).

The two Level-2 charge stations are type 2 socketed design so you will have to BYO interconnect cable. GELCOservices has a special price for the interconnect cable GS1023.

Already on day two after the opening there is a continuous stream of Tesla's and other EV's taking advantage of the new facility. As there are now 61 Tesla cars registered in South Australia we are confident that the EV Hub will be a busy operation. Whilst charging just wander over to the Joinery Café and have a coffee and cake!
